Perth Creative Commons aims to redevelop Perth’s rail line into a new urban corridor and develop several sites along this route, establishing a diverse and creative community. It is achieved through a vision driven strategy that enables ‘collaborators’ to contribute through a self-build framework. The project aims to attract young professionals and entrepreneurs from across multiple disciplines, from traditional arts to tech and engineering. The proposals success relies on establishing a condition which enables and incentivises creatives to contribute to the community and fully realise their aspirations without hindrance.

Perth Creative Commons consists of two key components. The physical environment and s complex social network. These aspects are knitted together through this online portal. The CC Navigator (Creative Commons Navigator) offers a platform for open source construction including detailed drawings and plans for residential and commercial units developed on site by members of the community.VISIT SITE
The paper begins by defining the creative innovative city from the holistic scale down to the individual. It investigates the benefits of nurturing and enabling a creative community and goes on to examine the conditions needed to allow such a movement to take root and achieve success.
The Statutory Planning Report was developed by myself and three other students. I focused primarily on developing the master plan, researching precedents, producing visuals and analysing policy and economic factors. This report informed many aspects of the proposal for Perth.
